Controversy Erupts Over Israeli Pavilion at International Cultural Event: Art Not Genocide Alliance Takes a Stand

As stated in the letter, what published on the web organization “Art Not Genocide Alliance” (ANGA), it is unacceptable that a country that commits atrocities in the Gaza Strip is represented at an international cultural event.

The letter was signed by more than 8,000 artists and cultural professionals, confirmed ANGA.

The opening of the biennale is scheduled for April 20 and will last until November 24.

As stated in the open letter, it is unacceptable to have an Israeli pavilion at the biennial.

“Israel’s official representation on the cultural stage is support for its policies and genocide in the Gaza Strip,” the letter said.

Critics accuse Israel of committing genocide in its war in the Gaza Strip against Hamas militants. Israel categorically denies these accusations.

Israel says the operation in the Gaza Strip is self-defense after the largest massacre in Israel’s history by Hamas and other Palestinian radical groups in southern Israel on October 7, when 1,200 people were killed and 250 hostages were taken.
