Arsenal are chasing the Premier League title. But the home game against West Ham was a real disappointment.
West Ham won 2–0 after a disputed lead.
Over the line or not over the line?
That was the question when West Ham put 1-0 up in the first half. Jarrod Bowen fed Tomas Soucek who pushed the ball behind David Raya in the Arsenal goal. But the big question was whether the ball was over the line when Bowen played through to Soucek.
After a long video review, the referee finally chose to approve the goal.
Arsenal’s uphill climb then got steeper in the second half. Former Arsenal player Konstantinos Mavropanos clinically headed in a tightly curled corner from James Ward-Prowse.
In added time, former West Ham player Declan Rice caused a penalty. Said Benrahma stepped forward but Raya saved the penalty.
But it did little for Arsenal.
West Ham won 2–0. A heavy setback for Arsenal in the top fight.
