Remedy Entertainment has just released a statement that should not be on the studio’s website. The developers of Control are trying to explain their surprising decision to update the game to the next generation, but the developers’ intentions are rather simple to understand.

As an introduction, you definitely need to clarify the situation – last week Control developers announced the Ultimate Edition and confirmed the surprising decision to update the game to the next generation. Only the owner of Control Ultimate Edition (PlayStation 4 / Xbox One) can count on free of charge the improved version of Control Ultimate Edition (PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X). If you bought the Control stand, you can’t count on a new next-gen release.
The creators are now trying to explain themselves and say: Control (without extras) will not be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, so players cannot count on a free update. Remedy is to provide only Control Ultimate Edition on the new generation, so if you buy this edition for PS4 and XOne, we will use the update option.
„Will I be able to purchase Control on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X without additional content?
No. The only version of Control available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be Control Ultimate Edition.”
The creators explain that PS4 and XOne owners of Control will enable Control (without add-ons) on PS5 and XSX thanks to Backwards Compatibility, but as you can easily guess – in this situation, we will not use the improvements offered by the studio.
Remedy emphasizes that Control with the Season Pass offers the same content as Control Ultimate Edition, but we still cannot count on a free upgrade:
“The goal of Control Ultimate Edition was not to release new, exclusive content on next-gen platforms, but to offer new Control players the full experience in one easy-to-find product. The PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X versions of Control contain the same content as the game currently available, though in make full use of the power and functions offered by the new consoles. “
Looking at the negative feedback on the second message, I am convinced that developers should not publish this information. The studio made a statement that reheats the atmosphere and raises criticism.
