Contrary to instructions from the authorities: Musk wants to start production and, if necessary, detain him

Tesla boss Musk is at war with measures to curb the coronavirus pandemic. Restrictions also apply in California, where Tesla’s headquarters are located. Musk now wants to start up production again – and even accepts jail.

Tesla boss Elon Musk wants to start up the main plant in California again immediately, thereby escalating his dispute with the authorities over corona restrictions. Musk will be on the production line himself, Musk wrote on Twitter. “If someone is arrested, I’ll ask that it’s just me.”

Alameda County, where the Tesla plant in Fremont is located, continues to have exit restrictions to prevent the spread of the corona virus. Tesla had filed a lawsuit against it at the weekend – and Musk had threatened to move the headquarters of the electric car manufacturer from California to Texas or Nevada, for example.

California Governor Gavon Newsom had promised to resume production in the coming week, shortly before Musk’s tweet.

Musk had downplayed the risk of coronavirus right from the start, calling the Alameda County restrictions on going out last week as “fascist.” By far, most of Tesla’s vehicles are being built in Fremont, while production in the new second plant in China is just starting up.
