Continues decline: Government reports 607 new cases of covid-19


National total of infections is 39,564, according to official balance. They reported that there were 6 deaths from the virus. Zulia did not report cases this Sunday 23-A.

A total of 67 infections –546 from community transmission of covid-19 and 61 imported – was reported this Sunday, August 23, by national authorities to raise the accumulated figure to 39,564.

Zulia, according to what was disclosed, did not add cases in the last 24 hours.

The information was released this Sunday by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, from Miraflores, who pointed out that there were six more deaths in the country.

Regarding the cases of community transmission, he explained that they focused on:

Miranda: 220 new cases, most of them in the municipalities of Petare (108), Los Teques, Baruta, Guarenas, Guatire, Lander and Chacao.

Capital district: 198 new cases in 21 of the 22 capital parishes, concentrating the highest number of cases in El Valle with 38 infections in the last hours, Altagracia (29), Sucre de Catia (17), El Recreo (17), Coche (16 ), among others.

La Guaira: 50 new cases.

Bolivar: 22 new cases.

Lara: 14 new cases.

Anzoátegui: 11 new cases.

Merida: 10 new cases.

Carabobo: 9 new cases.

Aragua: 7 new cases.

Monagas: 1 new case.

Sugar: 1 new case.

Amazonas: 1 new case.

Delta Amacuro: 1 new case.

Táchira: 1 new case.

In relation to the imported cases (61), it indicated that all are from Colombia.

Rodríguez specified that to date there are 9,269 active cases in the country, of which it was known that 4,462 are in hospitals, 4,628 in CDI and 179 in private clinics.

Regarding the status of active patients, he added that 4,441 are asymptomatic, 4,257 have mild acute respiratory failure, 485 with moderate acute respiratory failure and 86 patients in intensive care units due to presenting a delicate condition.

Deaths

Six people died from complications arising from the contagion of the coronavirus and the number of fatalities rose to 329.

Of the deaths, three were registered in the state of Miranda, one is a 76-year-old man from Yare, a 77-year-old man from the Baruta municipality and a 66-year-old woman from the El Hatillo municipality; Two deceased are from Sucre: a 50-year-old man from Carúpano and another 67-year-old from Cumaná, the last death was registered in Trujillo, the victim being an 84-year-old woman.
