Consumers welcome in wholesalers from Thursday without a pass | NOW

Consumers are allowed to temporarily shop again at catering wholesalers, it reports Central Food Agency (CBL) Wednesday. From Thursday, consumers can go to wholesalers such as Hanos, Sligro and Makro without a pass.

The measure should ease the pressure on supermarkets. At the same time, it ensures that no food that was intended for the catering industry is lost. “Municipalities must give permission for the opening for ordinary consumers. The CBL is counting on understanding and leniency from municipalities, just as in the spring,” the CBL reports.

Consumers can go to the wholesalers as long as the cafes and restaurants are closed. According to the cabinet, the ‘partial lockdown’ will last at least four weeks and possibly even longer.

The wholesalers also opened their doors to consumers during the first corona wave. Hanos then announced that they would mainly open the doors so that people with vital professions could do their shopping in peace, without being confronted with empty shelves.
