On Tuesday evening, the Consumer Council published a test of stick blenders from several manufacturers. The test winner was one from the supplier Braun.
At the other end of the scale, as the clear test losers, you will find two food processors from the Tristar brand, but also one from Clas Ohlson. And these products are really gaining momentum.
– Three of the hand blenders we tested are of such low quality that they can actually be classified as junk, because they are destroyed before the test is finished. Neither the Coline 44–3123 from Clas Ohlson nor Tristar’s two models pass our durability test and were defective at the end of the test, writes the Consumer Council.

Then they follow up by writing directly that they recommend avoiding these products.
– Making poor quality products is bad for the environment and bad for our wallets. We expect more from serious manufacturers than this, says Gunstein Instefjord, head of consumer policy at the Consumer Council.
In the Consumer Council test, 12 different products were tested and it is clear that they emphasize sustainability.
– In anticipation of tougher and better regulations with tougher requirements on quality, repairability and durability, it is important that the industry takes its responsibilities. They need to be more careful about which products to include in their range and in this way ensure that you as a consumer get products that last over time, writes Instefjord.
In Nettavisen, Instefjord writes that it is impossible to know which products reach the target and which do not, just by seeing them in the store. Instead, he advises you to do research and read tests like the one from the Consumer Council before making a purchase.
– Norway leads the world in electrical waste disposal and when we test useless products before the test is finished, they must be labeled as garbage and should never have been on store shelves. Also remember that if a product doesn’t work as it should or breaks down quickly, you’re entitled to a repair, a new product, or a refund.
Clas Ohlson apologizes
Clas Ohlson’s press contact, Anders Wahl, wrote in an email to Nettavisen apologizing.
– We take the Consumer Council test on stick blenders very seriously. We are very sorry that the products have not passed the test. Our engineers at our headquarters in Sweden are now working to review test results to see what improvements we can make, writes Wahl.
He also writes that the product has a five-year warranty.
