Consumer Alert: Meiysen Foot Warmers and Due Mele House Slippers Discontinued for Health Risks

An electrothermal foot warmer and several models of winter house slippers have been discontinued by
sale in the European market, reported by We, the consumers.

The reason is that the materials used in their production contain an excessive amount of chemicals and elements such as phthalates and lead, which can
to damage a person’s health.

The plastic material of the leg warmers has an excessive concentration of phthalates
(DEHP, DBP, DIBP) and short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs), which can cause damage to the reproductive system.

The test also showed that the solders in the product have a high concentration of lead (up to 35% by weight), and this chemical element, in addition to posing a risk to
environment, when accumulated in the body can lead to cancer.

The foot warmers are Meiysen brand and model number: 6987579854569. They do not comply with the requirements of the Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, the Persistent Organic Pollutants Regulation and the Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals and the restriction of chemicals.

The slippers are also excessively phthalates (DEHP and DBP/DIBP) and therefore again fail to comply with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals Regulation
of chemicals. They are DUE MELE brand, model numbers are 7117, 7128, 7163, 7177, 7911, 7934, 7937, 7938, 7939, 7942 and their barcodes are respectively: 8057639471178, 8057639471284, 8057639 471635, 8057639471772, 8057639479112, 8057639479341, 8057639479372 , 8057639479389, 8057639479396 and 8057639479426.
The measures taken by the authorities are to order the distributors to recall these
products from the market and remove them from their online sales list, as well as not allowing imports across borders.

This was reached after submitting information through the Safety Gate system, respectively for the leg warmers – from Sweden, and for the house slippers – from Italy.
