Confindustria, it’s a two-way race: Garrone and Orsini admitted

TORINO – The commission of ‘wise men’ for the election of the president of Confindustria has – as far as we know – admitted Edoardo Garrone, the president of Erg and Il Sole 24 Ore, and Emanuele Orsini, vice president of the current number one in viale dell’ Astronomy, Carlo Bonomi, at the meeting of the General Council for the illustration of the individual programs and at the vote for the designation of 4 April which will then have to be confirmed by the vote in the assembly. The wise men’s decision arrived in the evening, after the excluded candidate, the owner of Duferco and president of Federacciai, Antonio Gozzi, had certified his resolutions to the commission. His move seemed to confirm a three-way scenario for after Bonomi. The validation of the applications by the wise men changed the situation. Mariella Enoc, Andrea Moltrasio and Ilaria Vescovi have examined, in accordance with the Statute, the “formal and substantial legitimacy of the resolutions of the territorial associations”, which in these weeks of consultation have given their support to one or the other.

The last one to hand in the documentation was Antonio Gozzi, which today sent the resolutions and expressions of consensus to the Designation Commission. Sources close to the president of Federacciai speak of a threshold of assembly votes higher than 25%. Evidently the experts found anomalies – sources close to the competitors spoke of self-certifications – or believed that the documents arrived late.

We remind you that those who demonstrate that they have more than 20% of the votes are admitted with the right to vote in the Council. The Ligurian patron of Erg, Edoardo Garrone, has already presented the relevant resolutions some time ago and received the approval of the wise men: its share of votes would now exceed 22%. The Emilian Emanuele Orsini, Bonomi’s deputy and wood entrepreneur, had exceeded 21%. Gozzi’s deliberations were not enough. The wise men unanimously chose to admit, after Alberto Marenghi, the fourth, had withdrawn, only Garrone and Orsini. And now? How will Gozzi react? For now, the team following the president of Federacciai is reflecting and analyzing the letter with which the wise men cut him out of the race.
