Nowadays not a day goes by without a scientist being allowed to explain it in Het Journaal, VTM news, De Afspraak or Terzake. With the advent of the coronavirus, science is playing a more prominent role in our lives, and that is also reflected in how we think about it. “For the third year in a row, we are using the science barometer to gauge Flemish support for research and science,” says Flemish Minister of Science Hilde Crevits (CD&V).

“This special edition with a focus on the corona crisis shows a positive effect on trust and belief in our science and scientists. 19 percent of the 1,300 surveyed say their confidence has increased. 21 percent also say they believe more of what scientists say. ” In a smaller group, one in ten, confidence has dropped.
