Fifteen of the 40 billion francs of Covid transitional credits made available by the Confederation have been allocated to date, according to SECO figures. Shops, garages, manufacturing and production of goods, construction and hotels and restaurants were fond of it.
According to figures on Wednesday on the website of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco), just over 124,000 transitional loans guaranteed by the Confederation have been granted since the end of March. A graph shows that demand was especially strong during the first weeks after March 26, the first date to request credit.
A total of 14.9 million francs has been allocated. Also according to the SECO website, which some French media are echoing on Wednesday, the two big banks UBS and Credit Suisse were the main providers of credits (39%), with the cantonal banks (31.5%).
Deadline set for July 31
Shops and garages were the most demanding with a quarter of the total volume of loans (24.6%). They are followed by manufacturing and commodity production companies (14.8%), construction (13.3%) and hotels and restaurants (9.6%).
The deadline for receiving requests has been set for July 31. Interested companies can apply for transitional loans from their bank up to a maximum of 10% of their annual turnover, up to a maximum of CHF 20 million.
To do so, they must meet certain minimum criteria, and in particular declare that they are suffering substantial loss of turnover due to the coronavirus pandemic.
