About the concert

On April 20, at 7 p.m. in the “Lielais dzintars” concert hall, the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony, which is one of the most beautiful symphonies of the 19th century. Atvars Lakstīgala will be at the conductor’s desk.

The concert will be performed as part of the cycle “Symphony CLOSER”. The concert cycle created by the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra was created to introduce the listeners to the cornerstones of the world symphonic repertoire – beautiful, classical symphonies that everyone should know.

Ludwig van Beethoven is called the last titan of the Viennese classics. He created 240 musical compositions, nine of which are completed symphonies, five piano concertos, 18 pieces for string quartet, as well as one completed opera “Fidelio”. Modern researchers believe that Beethoven practically reinvented the symphony genre.

The concert and conversation “Symphony CLOSER. Beethoven’s Eighth” will begin with the introduction of music reviewer Orest Silabriež, in which Orest will reveal the context of the time when the symphony was created and the details of the masterpiece’s construction. After the concert, those present will be invited to an informal conversation with the conductor Atvaras Lakstīgal.
