Condom: a day for everyone’s health

the essential
Around the prevention of cancers, the initiative intends to bring information and screenings closer to the public, sometimes far from care.

Although they are used to working together and even constitute a unique “club of five”, it is the first time that these partners are going to present a prevention operation of such scope, and it is in Condom that they have chose to do so. Welcomed by the municipality, under the aegis of the ARS and the departmental council, the Gers Primary Health Insurance Fund (CPAM), the Regional Cancer Screening Coordination Center in Occitanie (CRCDC), the League against cancer du Gers, the Mutuelle sociale agricole (MSA) of Midi-Pyrénées sud, and the Mutualité française Occitanie will offer, on Saturday March 25 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., a great day of information, prevention and consultations in the room P de Montesquiou.
Didier-Pier Florentin, departmental director of the ARS was yesterday alongside the mayor Jean-François Rousse and the actors mobilized to present this initiative which illustrates a desire “to go as close as possible to the population, on the territories, in particular that away from care. This day also comes, as Jean-François Rousse pointed out, when “access to care becomes a problem”, in particular for a vulnerable public. This one, like all interested people, will be welcome during the day, with free access, which will see a wide offer of information, but also screenings, and consultations.

Prevention first

If the month of March is dedicated to colorectal cancer, it will not be the only one to be the subject of information and screening. Breast cancer and that of the uterus will also be discussed, with in particular smears carried out by appointment by midwives who will offer consultations. Doctors will also be there as well as staff from the CPAM, to help everyone update their rights and discover their digital personal space, a dietician to take stock of their eating habits, as well as nurses to provide information on aids to smoking cessation. The France Alzheimer association will also be present, as well as the local firefighters who will initiate lifesaving gestures.
