Concerts in Lake Liepāja will resume in a new form / Article / LSM.lv

Concerts on Lake Liepāja will resume tonight. On the water there will be an opportunity to listen to the performance of guitarist Mārčs Auziņš. Concerts on the water, using a floating stage and spectator rafts and catamarans, have been organized for several years by music-related professionals and the company SIA “Liepāja Music”. The June events have had to be canceled, but July and August already promise a number of musical events, and the time of the pandemic has allowed other creative ideas to be implemented.

The opening season of Lake Liepāja music is expected, despite various restrictions and changes that stopped musicians and other cultural people. Everything stopped, says musician and lake concert organizer Jānis Ivuškāns.

“Additional projects, concerts, events. The big plans for the future have also been canceled. We are taught doubts that there will be, but there was confidence – we still have a large area – the whole lake, that definitely at some point, at some point we will be able to start. “We won’t think about it all month in June, we didn’t think about it at first. When we came closer, we realized that June has been written off. We have to start with July,” says Ivuškāns.

Asked about the losses, Irita Kalēja, the organizer of “Liepāja Lake Music”, emphasizes that this time of the pandemic has allowed to express itself creatively and create additional opportunities for lake music, which was also offered by the Liepāja municipality competition for small and medium-sized businesses. the affected industry could recover.

“Rob was cut in April when we canceled a number of activities. I can say thank you to Covid-19, because we have written so many additional projects in these three months – a total of 20. Five of them have not received support, but that is a very small percentage. “I think it ‘s a benefit, because the rules of the project competition are designed in such a way that you are forced to think much more creatively. You are looking for new implementations of ideas,” says Kaleja.

The first newly created event will take place on July 18. “We will have a new service – children’s excursions, which live in Lake Liepāja. Educational, interesting, filled with creative activities – children will sit in catamarans with their parents. We will rent binoculars so that children can watch birds nearby. We have an eco-technologist, biologist “Arthur Billert, for whom this idea is well lit. He has prepared materials, developed a route,” says Kalēja.

In July and August, concerts in the lake on the water, for which a floating stage has been specially built, will continue. “This year we have changed the concept – concerts will be less frequent, but will be more ambitious. This year, the program includes only artists with an already recognizable name,” says Kalēja. The first concert will be with guitarist Marcis Auzins. “In previous years, there were only big ensembles. Last year we tried Peter Pick once on Sunday. This concert also responded well and we realized that this year such a thing should definitely be repeated,” says Ivuškāns.

Due to the national assembly restrictions, the event organizers call for a distance of 2 meters between boats and catamarans.
