Companies in Limburg-Weilburg are increasing their prices

A survey by the IHK Limburg shows that domestic companies are under cost pressure. Many of those affected have already passed this on to customers. More plan it.

LIMBURG-WEILBURG – Many companies in the Limburg-Weilburg region are suffering from rising energy and material costs. They will pass these on to their customers in the form of price increases. This is the result of a company survey by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK).

Accordingly, the corona pandemic has already hit many companies hard. In addition, there were worldwide delivery bottlenecks. And since February 24, the consequences of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine have further aggravated the situation.

IHK President Heep: “No other way out”

Across all sectors, around 80 percent of German companies are affected by higher purchase prices for energy. In construction and industry in particular, these costs have exploded. Industry, construction and trade are also reporting massive increases in prices for raw materials, goods and preliminary products. In the service sector, on the other hand, “only” half of the companies are affected by this development.

Ulrich Heep, President of the IHK Limburg: “Most companies see no other way out than to pass on the increased costs to their customers – a difficult consideration for every company.”

Almost three quarters of domestic companies state that they intend to increase prices in the future (27 percent) or have already done so (45 percent). 13 percent cannot raise their prices. Reasons can be long-term contracts or lack of customer acceptance.

In the particularly affected industrial sector, 59 percent of companies have already increased their prices, and 12 percent intend to do so. The situation is similar in wholesale: More than half of the companies (55 percent) have increased their prices, 36 percent plan to do so. In the construction industry “only” 46 percent of companies have raised prices. 50 percent only want to do it in the future because price increases during ongoing construction phases are difficult here.

In the heterogeneous service sector, the information is strikingly different: 40 percent of the establishments in the hospitality industry have already increased their prices, 40 percent still want to do so. In the predominantly personal service companies, only 21 percent have already passed on price increases, 36 intend to do so.
