Communications from education and science – process management in clinics, German Society for Workflow Management in Health Care (DGWMiG) eV, press release

Lost valuables from patients are almost part of everyday life in some clinics. Unfortunately have here small causes often have immense consequencesas you can see in this example of one of our training participants:

“Nurse Ms. Kernig is informed by patient Mr. Kunze that his watch can no longer be found after his operation (5 minutes). Mrs. Kernig begins the search. She first asks her colleagues on the ward, then talks to Mr. Kunze’s roommates and calls the OR several times (40 minutes). She also informs Ms. Schiller, clerk in the Legal and Contracts department (10 mins). Ms. Schiller then calls Mr. Sprenger, the responsible clerk at the insurance company (10 mins). This checks whether the patient himself was able to take care of his lost watch (20 minutes). To do this, employees and/or patients must fill out a loss form (10 mins).“

Wasted time for calls, search, phone calls, conversations, documentation: 95 minutes.

The participating clinics identified from admission to discharge up to 2,400 minutes scrap time. With an assumed 11,300 patients we are talking about 452,000 hours. There is a huge potential of time here, which the employees on duty can use for the really important things.

Such time wasters are not only a waste, they also lead to great dissatisfaction among all those involved. With a simple pattern of action, these can be easily detected and avoided in the future!

How you too can optimize your processes with our success strategy in order to eliminate time wastersyou will learn in one personal conversation. Register simply and without obligation for your personal consultation hour.
