Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky decided for the first time to comment on his appointment to such a responsible position.
He also commented on the removal of Valery Zaluzhny from this position. The extended interview was posted online by journalists.”Ukrinforma“.
Rumors about Zaluzhny’s removal from his position have been circulating in the Ukrainian media since 2023. The reason was allegedly a disagreement between the president and Zaluzhny regarding the further vision of events on the battlefield. At the same time, there was news on the Internet that Zelensky saw either Syrsky or Budanov for the position of commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Syrsky only stated that the duty of any military man is to follow orders. If at that time the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine had a reason to change the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, then there were good reasons for that.
Syrsky stated that he began working with Zaluzhny even before the start of the war. They have a good relationship, and he wishes Valery Fedorovich success in his new business.
Syrsky also said that the General Staff of Ukraine was updated by people who went through the war and know in practice what the enemy is like.
The Western press also writes that it was only under Syrskoye that defensive structures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to be built. The main reason was the fact that the West stopped military assistance to Ukraine in the fall of 2023 (meaning the United States).
