Repartee is a gift. My problem with that: Most of the time, the best sayings come to me much later. Like the other day.
I was part of a lively discussion that had lasted far too long and tired me. A particularly “sensitive” colleague wanted to get a consensus on the bend or break. At some point I said: “I can get my ukulele and we’ll all sing ‘Kumbaya, my Lord’.” The colleague rolled his eyes and said: “Sarcasm has never got you anywhere.” I was puzzled and just said an awkward “So what?” emerged.
