Colomiers. July 14: tribute to civic engagement

Karine Traval-Michelet, Mayor of Colomiers, his first deputy Arnaud Simion and the entire municipal council had invited all the columérins to come and celebrate the national holiday of July 14.

As a preamble, the first meeting was given at the war memorial for wreath laying in the presence of many veterans. In turn, the representatives of the municipality, the Occitanie region and the US Colomiers Omnisports were able to pay homage to the dead for France. There followed a minute of silence before a “Marseillaise” played by the municipal fanfare of Colomiers.

The second highlight of this morning was organized in the hall of the town hall for the speech of the mayor of Colomiers in front of a hundred guests. Recalling in the introduction the symbolism of the National Day, Karine Traval-Michelet wished to pay tribute to all the many co-workers who have been involved since the start of the health crisis. “I am proud of this civic fervor, through all the solidarity actions”, she declared. The mayor thus highlighted in the first place the volunteers who from June 2020 spontaneously participated in the distribution of the first masks for the population. But also and more recently the presidents and assessors, volunteers of the polling stations, who allowed the excellent holding of the last elections. And finally all the nursing staff of the Colomiers vaccination center, which has been mobilized relentlessly for several weeks. A center which will also see from next Monday its available doses increase, from 500 doses per day to its opening to 700 doses per day, in order to vaccinate as many people as possible faster.

An elected woman who wished at the end of her speech to speak in favor of vaccination and launched a solemn appeal to the population: “Vaccinate yourself! I can only encourage you to do it as soon as possible. Vaccination is the key of our freedom “.

The morning ended with the entertainment of the municipal fanfare of Colomiers followed by a cocktail at Place 2 Beer for a last festive moment punctuating this National Day ceremony.
