The Colombian Civil Defense published the risk map of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano and the municipalities that would have to be evacuated due to their proximity to the crater in a 15 km round, due to a possible direct impact from an eruptive event.
The SGC in its last bulletin indicated that the Nevado continues at the Orange level, although the seismicity decreased compared to the last days, however, “there were reports of several thermal anomalies located in the Arenas crater, one of them reaching the highest value high registered since 2017”.
From the UNGRD headed by its director Luis Fernando Velasco, prevention tasks have been carried out in the different departments with direct influence.
It is for this reason that the preventive evacuation of the inhabitants of the upper area of Nevado del Ruiz has been requested.

Despite the request, some inhabitants of the risk area do not leave their homes for fear, according to Velasco’s statements, that “their material things will be stolen.”
The director told Noticias Caracol, “we are not going to leave you alone”, in reference to the inhabitants of this risk zone.
“We are preparing with your mayor, we are preparing with your governor, with the national government, a plan to care for your animals.”
And he stressed “your life is very valuable and cannot be lost by ignoring a threat from a volcano.”
