Cologne: 10,000 euros for medico international: Cologne residents invent the “vaccine soli”

Cologne –

(dew). Werner Majoli (70) has many friends and with whom he met – before Corona – regularly in a Südstadt pub. “We have all known each other for a long time and had a kind of regulars’ table,” said the former vocational school teacher. The real meeting has not been possible for a long time, so the friends now and then come together at the Zoom regulars’ table. It was on one of these occasions that the idea of creating a “vaccine soli” arose.

“The idea came up when we – rather out of a silly whim – were wondering what we could do with the lost soli money,” says Majoli. However, the incident has a very serious background: Corona vaccines are distributed unevenly around the world. “We know that many citizens are going through a difficult time at the moment – yet we want to draw attention to the plight of those who do not have access to medical coverage,” emphasizes Majoli.

So far, the initiative has already collected 10,000 euros in donations. The money goes to the aid organizations “medico international”, “media mondiale” and “Help – help for self-help”. The idea of setting up a “vaccine soli” should gladly be carried on. “If everyone advertises a little for it in their network, a lot has been achieved,” says Werner Majoli.
