Collision between two WWII planes during an air show in Texas

A Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bomber and a Bell P-63 KingCobra fighter jet collided in mid-air at around 1:20 p.m. (1920 GMT), the aviation regulator (FAA) said in a statement.

“At this stage we don’t know how many people were on board”added the FAA, which has opened an investigation.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, however, tweeted about it“no spectators or anyone on the ground were injured”.

Witnesses have uploaded videos of the crash, in one of which one of the devices appears to break before hitting the ground.

Dallas Executive Airport, located about ten kilometers south of the Texan metropolis, spoke on Twitter about a “accident” at a 1940s military aircraft show, held as part of the long holiday weekend on November 11th.

Firefighters said they had been sent to the scene. But no other information was available at this stage.
