Cold weather in CDMX this January 11, they enable shelter in Cuajimalpa

The cold weather continues in CDMX this January 11, so the Cuajimalpa mayor’s office has already set up a shelter in the demarcation to protect the vulnerable population from the low temperatures.

According to the Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) the temperature is expected to drop to between 4 and 6 degrees Celsius this Monday morning.

The cold weather will affect five municipalities of the CDMX this January 11, whose high areas will show a decrease in temperature between 5:00 and 8:00 tomorrow.

The municipalities affected by low temperatures are:

  • Alvaro Obregon
  • Cuajimalpa
  • Magdalena Contreras
  • Milpa Alta
  • Tlalpan

Due to the low temperatures expected for this Monday, the yellow alert for cold was activated in the demarcations.

Due to the constant cold weather in CDMX, the Cuajimalpa mayor’s office enabled a shelter in the Deportivo Morelos demarcation, where vulnerable people can be protected from low temperatures with all the necessary health measures in the face of the pandemic.

This hostel will remain open throughout the winter season, and has kits of gloves, earmuffs and warm socks, as well as bread and coffee ready for the people staying on site.

Recommendations for cold weather this January 11

Given the cold weather in CDMX this January 11, the SGIRPC issues the following recommendations to protect the population from the low temperatures expected for the first hours of Monday:

  • Wear at least two layers of clothing
  • Cover nose and mouth when leaving
  • Avoid being exposed to sudden changes in temperature Use cream to protect and hydrate the skin from the cold
  • Eat fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins A and C
  • Drink plenty of fluids
  • In case of respiratory discomfort, go immediately to the health center
