According to Jakub Gawron, a synoptician of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, such a discrepancy in the temperature read on the thermometer and felt by humans is a normal phenomenon.
– At the moment there is a freezing fog on Śnieżka, and in the last hour the wind gusts reached 101 km / h. So we have an accumulation of very strong wind, low temperature and humidity in the air, which must translate into a subjective feeling of coolness. We have a similar phenomenon in the sauna. In a dry sauna, the tolerable temperature threshold is higher than in a steam sauna. At the moment it is minus 5.4 degrees Celsius on Kasprowy, snow has fallen, but the wind is blowing at a speed of 7 km / h, so the subjective feeling of people staying there at the moment will be different than that of tourists or IMWM employees on Śnieżka said the Rook.
