CoD: Modern Warfare 2 Remaster Is Not Coming To Russian PlayStation Store – Gaming – News

Sony is not releasing the now released remaster of the CoD: Modern Warfare 2 campaign in the Russian PlayStation Store. The reason is not entirely clear, but is probably partly related to the notorious No Russian mission in the game.

The Russian Call of Duty account on Twitter reports in a statement that the remaster of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign is entirely fictional and recreated in HD quality. “Sony Interactive Entertainment has decided not to sell the game on the Russian PlayStation store.” The game will be released online for PC and Xbox One in Russia; physical versions may still be released in Russia.

A reason is not given, but presumably it is partly related to the infamous No Russian mission. In the original Modern Warfare 2 and also in the remaster is this mission, in which Russian terrorists sow death and destruction at a Russian airport. That led to the console versions of the original game at the time were taken from Russian stores. Then a version came out without this mission.

Sony also made Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in October last year from the Russian PlayStation Store. That decision also stated that it was a ‘fictional game’. In Modern Warfare from 2019, Russia is also not portrayed too positively. The story is set against the backdrop of a terrorist organization that gets its hands on chemical weapons. In part of the tough single-player story, players take on the role of a young girl named Farah. It is located in a city in the Middle East that is being bombed by Russia. Farah and some family members also have to deal with Russian soldiers there. Ultimately, it will oppose Russian rule.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: Campaign Remastered has since available tuesday on the PlayStation 4 and this remaster is coming April 30 also on Xbox One and PC. There is no multiplayer available and it is purely a graphically polished version of the original 2009 game campaign.
