Coca-Cola Byte – Launches new flavors

– We wanted to create an innovative taste inspired by the playfulness of pixels, rooted in the experiences made possible by gaming, says Oana Vlad, senior director of Coca-Cola’s global strategy.

But apart from the fact that it will taste “pixels” of the new cola, the taste is not described in more detail.

Launched on Fortnite

The launch stunt from Coca-Cola does not happen on traditional advertising posters either – instead the new flavor is launched in the “meta verse”, or more precisely in the game Fortnite, where Coca-Cola has created the island Pixel Point – where players can try out several mini-games related to the new product.

In physical stores, it will be possible to get Coca-Cola Byte from 2 May in the USA and from 3 May in China. The product has already been launched to a very limited extent in some Latin American countries.

Whether it will appear on our side of the globe remains to be seen, but at least we have not seen the previous taste from Coca-Cola Creations – Starlight – in Norwegian stores.

– Is that Red Bull?

– This can stay in the meta-verse, is the conclusion The Vergejournalist Mitchell Clark, who has tried the innovation with his wife.

It did not end so well. The last quarter of the contents were emptied into the sink and neither Clark nor his wife were thrilled.

– Sickly sweet, Clark writes in his review and gets associations to cough syrup.

– That’s why it smells like medicine. It’s Red Bull mixed with Coke, his wife concludes.

CNets journalist Katie Teague is not quite so strict. She experienced that the Byte cola had a lot of carbonation, but that it basically tasted like Cola Zero.
