Coach Thomas Doll Prepares Persija Jakarta for 2023/2024 League 1 with New Players

Coach Persija Jakarta Thomas Doll looking forward to the arrival of the team’s new players. He wants to try the player whose identity is unknown in a trial match.

Persija is scheduled to carry out three more trials before the 2023/2024 League 1 is held. Namely against Persebaya Surabaya on June 18 and Ratchaburi on June 25.

Between the two matches, namely on June 21, there will be a trial where the opponent has not been confirmed. Thomas Doll hopes that Persija’s new players have arrived to play in those matches.

Persija has just played a test match against the local Depok club, Persipu FC, on Saturday (10/6/2023). The match at Nirwana Park, Bojongsari, Bogor, was won by Persija with a landslide score of 8-0.

“We will face Persebaya, Ratchaburi and one more match. I hope everyone can play while waiting for the new players to come,” said Thomas Doll, quoted from Persija’s website.

There is a possibility that the new player that Thomas Doll is referring to is an import. Because so far Persian only had two foreign players namely Ondrej Kudela and Ryo Matsumura.

Even though PSSI allows each club to sign six foreign players in League 1 next season with details of 5 free foreign players + 1 ASEAN player. That means there are still four foreign player slots Persija that have not been filled.

While waiting for new players to arrive, Thomas Doll continues to focus on developing his team’s training program. There are only 2 weeks left for League 1 to kick off. Persija will play the opening match of the competition by hosting PSM Makassar on July 1.

“Furthermore, my target is more towards training sessions. Next week we will enter the third week of pre-season. We will try to change the program. Previously it was only basic training, the next one will be more dynamic and intense. In my opinion the most important match in pre-season is the last match before League 1 starts ,” said Thomas Doll.

“That last match can help us focus on the next match. In every pre-season match, all players will get minutes to play. We have a pretty good schedule in pre-season,” said the coach Persian the German origin.
