Coach Rick Macci totally disagrees with Agent Max Eisenbud, who claims that Maria Sharapova was “the worst athlete to ever win a Grand Slam”. Known as the childhood coach of the famous Serena and Venus Williams, Macci also worked with Sharapova when the Russian was younger.“@MariaSharapova was a very good athlete.
Agents make deals and most have limited skills in evaluating talent. When we think of athletic ability, we think of running and jumping. Maria had incredible hand-eye coordination and her quick strides were impressive.

Macci disagrees with Eisenbud’s opinion of Sharapova
Eisenbud has been Sharapova’s agent for the past two decades and has helped the Russian become a marketing giant. A few days ago, Eisenbud was a guest on the Tennis Podcast.
Reflecting on Sharapova’s success, Agent Eisenbud praised her work ethic and talent, but hinted that her athleticism wasn’t the best. “Aside from the fact that she was an amazing player at 11 when I first saw her play, I think you all saw that she was extremely purposeful.
She knew what she wanted and she devoted her time and energy to becoming the best. I mean, I keep telling people she’s probably the worst athlete, and I would tell her if she were here (laughs), the worst athlete to ever win a Grand Slam.
She can’t throw, she can’t pass, she has no sensitivity, but she has worked for it. I think she was one of the mentally strongest players to ever play the game and I would put her on the list of great champions in that regard.
She just wasn’t the athlete these other players were. She knew what she wanted in business, on and off the pitch. An amazing young lady,” Eisenbud said on the Tennis Podcast.
