CMF by Nothing: Affordable Design and Innovation in India

It debuted with three products CMF by Nothing sub brand. Carl Pei’s new company, CMF under Nothing, is called a Csmell, Mmaterial, Finish, and their goal is to keep design at the center and launch affordable devices, while Nothing offers higher-end products. The first three products in CMF’s range are an earphone, a watch and a 65-watt GaN charging head, and although these are their first products, they already refer to the earphones and watch as Pro (CMF Buds Pro and CMF Watch Pro).


CMF Watch Pro on the wrist [+]

The earphones are TWS with stem design, sitting in the ear canal, with active noise filtering and IP54 protection. ANC is said to be able to cancel out the sounds of the outside world up to 45 dB in the 5000 Hz range. The operating time is 6.5 hours with active noise cancellation, 11 hours without it. The earphones will be available in white, black and orange colors, but for now they can only be ordered in India, where you have to pay 3499 rupees, which is around HUF 16,000. The headset uses a Bluetooth 5.3 connection, supports AAC and SBC codecs, and the carrying case has a 460 mAh battery that can be charged via a USB Type-C connector. The size of the dynamic drive is unknown.

CMF Buds Pro in three colors [+]

The CMF Watch Pro is big, offering a 1.96-inch AMOLED display in a square shape. The panel has 410 x 502 pixels, according to CMF it can achieve a brightness of 600 nits, and has a refresh rate of 58 Hz. It has GPS, which can be used to record running, walking, biking and hiking activities. In addition to these, there are even more sports modes and training types, which the user can follow with the help of the heart rate and SpO2 sensor. The watch is also capable of sleep monitoring and stress monitoring, and you can also receive calls using the built-in microphone and speaker while you are near the phone.

The watch case can be chosen in black or silver, the straps are made in black, gray and orange, they are made of silicone, while the watch case is aluminum. For now, there are only Indian prices for this, you have to pay 4,499 or 4,999 rupees for the product in the distant country, depending on the color, which is equivalent to HUF 20 – 22 thousand.

Finally, the charger: a 65-watt GaN wall adapter with two USB-C and one USB-A connectors, which can charge devices simultaneously. If all three connectors are in use, the device emits 15 watts each. If only the two USB-C are used, then 45W and 20W pass through one, and if one USB-C and USB-A are used, then the distribution is 45W and 18W.

The charging head also supports PD 3.0, QC 4.0+ / 3.0 / 2.0, SCP, FCP, PPS, AFC, Samsung 9V2A, DCP and Apple 2.4A, and is compatible with Apple MFI cables. The price of the charging head is 2999 rupees (13,300 forints) in India, where it will be available in orange and black, but in the rest of the world CMF plans to sell only black.
