The Union leads 1-0 ahead of the second leg at home in the round of 16

90 ‘- Monteiro adds to his big night with another GOAL after a missed touch from Saprissa. Monteiro now has 2 goals and 2 assists on the night.

47′- Jamiro Monteiro lines up and converts him. Union up 1-0 (2-0). Union needed to come out early and score, didn’t expect it so fast.
46 ‘- Second half in progress and in a few seconds Anthony Fontana falls on the line and gets a penalty.
45 1 ‘- After the first 15 minutes have been full of action, the half ends in a lull. The referee blew his whistle for half-time at 9:02 a.m.
40 ‘- The ball is played in front of Kacper Przybylko for what should have been a tap, but he ends up blocking with his OTHER leg.
36 ‘- We have a late tackle and a yellow card for Jedwin Lester. As expected, there is dust between Kai Wagner and Lester. Replay and slow motion should be a red. However Lester receives a yellow warning.
32 ‘- The brilliant timing and race for Kacper Przybylko just goes far and ends up being a corner for the Union on the right side. Union sent him into the penalty area and was left with nothing. Always aimless game.
28 ‘- Jamiro Monteiro, out of nowhere, slips on the ground and chooses Saprissa to launch another good attack for the Union. Just ends with a backup.
26 ‘- A nice cross in the box and the U again fail to manage what could have been an easy goal. Is it a problem with the terrain and traction? Who knows, except that they MUST start to get to the end and complete some of these setups.
25 ‘- The game is stopped because Wálter Cortés de Saprissa takes a point on the top of the shoe.
24′- So far in the match, Union has dominated possession time with the ball passing 75% of the match so far at the feet of the boys in blue.
21 ‘- Saprissa wins her first free kick of the evening. 10 yards outside the upper right corner of the box. He is sent to the far post and bounces right off the net.
20 ‘- Kacper Przybylko puts the ball in the box on his feet and positions himself for an easy goal. However, he lacks control and has luckily been called up for offside.
15 ‘- Jamiro Monteiro gets the ball close to midfield and tries to send it to Kacper Przybylko in the final third. However, he was played behind him and he couldn’t finish it.
11 ‘- Jamiro Monteiro picks up the ball in the box, looks and goes down, and the U scores a corner. However, nothing of weight comes out of this corner other than your typical save.
6 ‘- Alejandro Bedoya goes wide and gets a nice point in the penalty area and tries a cross. He goes out for a corner. Out of the set, enter the free space near Glsenes who crushes one in the POST!
4 ‘- Excellent idea of the union game here. The U passing the ball from the right side sends it into the box for a header, but it was saved.
2 ‘- Philly fans boo Saprissa’s Ricardo Blanco booing him as he touches the ball. Nobody forgets this ugly tackle that happened during the first stage.
Saprissa will miss several players this evening with Kendall Waston missing due to travel restrictions (he was in Bosnia and Herzegovina with Costa Rica at the end of March, so he is limited by Covid-19 protocols for entry into the United States) , Fabricio Aleman, Mariano Torres and Aubrey David came out with positive Covid-19 tests and Marvin Angulo, Ariel Rodriguez (Saprissa’s current active leader in CCL goals with 7) and Esteban Rodriguez are all injured.

The Philadelphia Union pick up Sergio Santos as an option, but Cory Burke and Ilsinho are still injured and Jack de Vries has been in concussion protocol. Stuart Findlay is still working out 90 minutes of fitness.
