Closing of the Palestine Film Days Festival: The winners of the “Bird of the Sun” Competition have been announced.

The activities of the 9th edition of the Palestine Film Days International Festival, organized by the Film Lab Palestine Foundation, ended on Monday evening, with the announcement of the winners of the 6th edition of the “Palestinian Sunbird” competition.

The film “The Return”, directed by Naim Nayef and Margot Bouman, won in the “Short Films” category, after competing with 10 films in this category, and “Palestine 87” received a special mention from the commission.

The competition jury also announced that the film “Devil Drivers”, directed by Muhammad Abu Ghaith, won the prize in the “documentary film” category, while Jumana Manna’s “Green Hand” film received a special mention from the commission.

In the “Production” category, the prize was awarded to the “Science” project by director Mishaal Al-Qawasmi. Meanwhile, director Omar Ramal received a special mention from the jury for his “Kentucky Gaza” project.

In the third edition of the “Tales of the Sun Bird” program, 4 projects competed to produce films for children and young people, and the result was the “Ghost” project by Samah Al-Qadi, Rani Nasser and Michel Ayoub, winner of a $ 20,000 Production Award presented by Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafi and Bank of Palestine.

The festival concluded with the screening of the film “Joy” by Jordanian director Dareen Sallam, nominated to represent Jordan at the 95th Academy Awards, in the “International Films” category for the year 2023.

And he participated in the festival, which Launched on the first of this month57 films from occupied Palestine and Arab and foreign countries, including Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Serbia, France and Sweden, and its programs have been distributed in 17 locations in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.

It is worth noting that the Palestine Days International Film Festival has been organized by the Film Lab Palestine Foundation since 2014 and has since become an annual tradition. The festival aims to “develop film culture, through local and international film screenings, as well as round tables, professional workshops and specialized programs,” according to the organizers.
