(CRHoy.com) Companies in the health area joined in a initiative that seeks to facilitate the importation of vaccines from the private sector.
It is an initiative in which the Union of Chambers and Associations of the Private Business Sector (Uccaep), the Costa Rican Chamber of Industries (ICRC), the Costa Rican North American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), the Metropolitan Hospital, the Hospital Clínica Bíblica, the drug distributor CEFA and the Fischel and La Bomba pharmacies.
The companies say they will seek to import vaccines at cost, not for profit; and they will make their infrastructure and accredited professionals available to the health authorities free of charge, to speed up vaccination
and thus expand coverage.
The employers affirm that they will try to integrate efforts to find new provisions as long as they are safe, effective vaccines and of origin certified by the manufacturer.
“It seeks to implement an association private public for the deployment of the vaccination program, which accelerates coverage; decentralizing the process and expanding vaccination schedules. All under the coordination and supervision of the health authorities ”, they indicated.
“For several weeks we have managed to unify a massive offer of support from the private sector to the authorities to increase the speed of vaccination. Today we formalize our offer through letters to the President of the Republic, the Minister of Health, the Chancellor of the Republic, and the President of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund. The business sector is at the service of the country to jointly face the main health challenge in our history, putting people’s well-being before any particular interest ”, said José Álvaro Jenkins, president of the Uccaep.
