Oslo City Council is meeting new reefs in the sea to achieve its climate goals. Now it may have to remove an important climate measure.
–At Kong Olav Vs gate in Oslo is Norway’s first emission-free construction site with electric excavators and biodiesel trucks. Oslo’s requirements for biodiesel in public procurement have no effect, according to the Norwegian Environment Agency.
In 2023, Oslo will have reduced 52 per cent of emissions compared with 2009. This is a sub-target set by the City Council. By 2030, 95 percent of emissions will be gone.
Environmentally friendly fuel and emission-free technology are an important weapon for Oslo to achieve these goals. It can be biogas, biodiesel, hydrogen or electricity.
