Climate Map, the website of the Government of Andalusia to raise awareness of climate change

The president of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, announced this Friday in Dubai, during the United Nations climate summit, the launch of a web portal that will measure the impact of climate change in the regionoffering the user statistics and meteorological information about each municipality.

The Climate Map geoportal is now available, starting this Friday, at the addresses www.mapaclima.com y www.mapaclima.es and in it anyone can know the evolution of a data set of climate variables and greenhouse gas emissions since 2005 for any municipality in Andalusia.

“Any citizen will be able to ask questions of all kinds regarding the weather and say ‘hey, how many tropical nights have I had in my town? How much did it rain last year? or how many days did the temperature exceed 40 degrees?'” Moreno detailed in statements to the media during his first day at COP28.

The president of the Board defined this web portal as a “new pedagogy instrument and awareness”, with the aim that each user “can see year after year how the climate in their area is changing” due to global warming, through “very detailed information”.

“It’s a way for many citizens come closer to reality that we are experiencing climate change in Andalusia that is generating a drought that we have never seen before,” concluded the Andalusian leader, who is also attending the Dubai climate summit as vice president of the European Committee of the Regions (EU). .
