‘Cleotilde and Matilde in love’, music, love and potions in the return of the witch sisters to the Sánchez Aguilar Theater | Theater | Entertainment

A witch in love will be the victim of the spell of her meddling sister -also a witch- and will fall in love with the flirtation of a lizardman. Could it be that a true feeling is born in the midst of this enchantment? The outcome of this question is the story that Santiago Carpio brings to the stage in this new theatrical production of the witches Cleotilde and Matilde, at the Sánchez Aguilar Theater.

Cleotilde and Matilde in love will premiere this Friday, February 11, in the third room of the theater, marking the return of these characters who have given life, since 2016, to Ecuadorian actors Ney Calderón and Fabo Doja and who on this occasion will have the artist as their guest Diego Chiang, who plays Gueverto.

“Matilde gets tired of seeing Cleotilde alone and finds her a partner, a lizardman that she found in Las Peñas,” says Calderón. Her character will give him advice to conquer her sister, who has been closed to love for many years.

Doja adds that Matilde’s suggestions will lead to a series of problems and the spell that she casts will bring greater consequences for those involved. “The funny thing is that out of all these tips, during the development of the play this disaster is created and what can surprise the public is what can happen to Cleotilde’s heart. My character is that of Gueverto Machuca Uzhca, according to him the best lizardman in the Andes. Matilde finds him spiteful about a previous relationship with a lojana and takes him to her sister, ”says Chiang.

Cleotilde’s favorite flowers, serenades, and poems will be the tools of the lizardman with the soul of a young man who intends to conquer the bitter witch.

“Many of us who belong to the artistic guild are excited that these witch characters remain for so long and are recognized, plus it is counter-fun and I learn from Ney and Fabo in all the rehearsals,” adds Chiang.

“Since we started this project in 2016, Santiago Carpio has directed each of the works; the text is by Nitsy Grau, she is the witch mom and the one who writes the texts of all the works. We started the year with this, rehearsals for the play began in January”, says Doja.

According to Doja, her character Cleotilde turned her former boyfriend Benito into an owl for cheating on them. “The boyfriend is petrified, he has had many suitors, including Julio César, Alfonso Espinosa, but she has closed herself off from love,” jokes Doja.

Cleotilde and Matilde in love will be on stage this Friday the 11th and Saturday the 12th and will continue on February 16, 17, 25 and 26. Performances will be at 8:00 p.m.

The cost of tickets is $30 per person and $60 per couple. (includes unlimited wine). There will be tables of four people and others of two. It will have limited capacity. (AND)
