Clear Case for iPhone 12 may crack and tear

We received a notification from iCulture reader Arie, who mentioned the transparent case with MagSafe for the iPhone 12 purchased. He received it on October 30 and soon had two cracks on the bottom, while he did nothing special with it, not even removed it from the case. Arie wonders whether the cracks were already there when he received the Clear Case, or whether they were created when he iPhone in the case. Fortunately went Apple coping smoothly: a courier will pick up the case and Arie will receive a new one. He is now considering choosing a different case. It’s not a one-off event. Also elsewhere on the internet are people who have a crack in their iPhone 12 Clear Case.

For this user, the cracks appeared after only two days. In addition, others report that they suffer from the same problem and are considering switching to the silicone case.

Transparent case has advantages and disadvantages

The transparent case from Apple has been in the range for a while. This time, the clear case is a standout because of its clear MagSafe shape. This contains magnets, so that the cover sticks better to the MagSafe Charger. A plus of this case is that you continue to see the original color, which is especially nice with striking colors such as blue, green and red. Another plus is that the transparent material discolors a lot less quickly than cheap covers. But there is also often criticism that the cover is too stiff, so you have to go to a lot of effort to take it off.

Whether you like the MagSafe ring on the latest model is a matter of taste. Some people find it on one iPod nano, others would prefer the magnet ring to be invisible. But with a price of 55 euros, you can expect such a case to last a long time.

If you have bought a clear case for the iPhone 12, we recommend that you check whether any cracks have also occurred in you. If so, it is best to contact Apple to see if you can still exchange. Another option is to bring the cover back and opt for it silicone case for iPhone 12 (which can also show wear and tear over time) or the upcoming leather case for iPhone 12, which will hit shelves from November 6. Wear can also occur with the leather case, but with real leather it often gives a nice aged effect.

In any case, you will not be bothered by one thing with the clear case: with other cases, a circular print may appear on the back, for example with the leather ones. With the transparent case, that ‘imprint’ is already standard.
