Clear: Bordeaux are penalized – forcibly relegated to the third division

It was in January that Anel Ahmedhodzic, 22, was loaned from Malmö FF to Bordeaux. The team had a heavy spring and it all ended with Bordeaux being relegated to Ligue 2 after a failed season.

Now comes the next blow for the club.

On Tuesday, DNCG, the financial body of French football, decided to forcibly demote Bordeaux another division, to the French third league. The reason is that the club has been hit with financial problems and has not lived up to the financial regulations that apply in France.

Bordeaux now has seven days to appeal the decision, something the club announces it will do.

Anel Ahmedhodzic’s loan agreement expires at the end of June but according to French media has Bordeaux wanted to buy off the midfielder. Due to forced relegation, however, it does not look like there will be any continuation in the club for Ahmedhodzic, who will officially be a Malmö FF player again on July 1.

Recently, MFF coach Milos Milojevic spoke about the situation around Ahmedhodzic.

– I talked to him a bit before he went with the national team. He told me he would take some time off after the national team matches and then look after it, Milos Milojevic told The football channel.

– His wish is to be sold and play abroad, but I also think he is smart and aware that if nothing interesting happens to him, it is better to play than to be away and wait for something. I do not know his situation exactly, more than that we do not expect him until June 30.

Anel Ahmedhodzic’s contract with MFF extends over the 2024 season.
