Claudio Pizarro causes unrest – what is going on?

As if Bremen didn’t already have enough problems: Claudio Pizarro is again indisciplined. The former noble joker drags himself through his farewell year and causes unrest.

Claudio Pizarro is playing his last Bundesliga season. At 41 years old. However, he cannot enjoy his 20th season in Germany’s top division. His Bremeners are in the worst crisis in years. Werder is threatened with relegation and Pizarro is no longer able to help the green-whites.

On the contrary: the Peruvian causes additional unrest. After another home defeat against Union Berlin (0-2) last Saturday, trainer Florian Kohfeldt called the team together at the Mittelkreis. Pizarro went straight to the cabin.

Manager Frank Baumann said to the “Bild” newspaper: “We will talk to Claudio about it. I don’t want to say more about it at the moment.”

Pizarro has already been undisciplined several times

It was the next lack of discipline in a short time. During the winter break, he posted a photo of his vacation with a beer can in his hand – after Werder had explicitly asked his professionals to behave in a disciplined manner during the break. In retrospect, Baumann described the action as “unfortunate”.

Sure: the Peruvian has always been a bon vivant, barely skipping a party. Nevertheless, he was cheered by the fans, was a crowd favorite and met regularly. For the time being in his 20 years in the Bundesliga, he was without a goal of the season (season 2014/15 at Bayern). First of all, he got off (2017/18 with Cologne). Does both happen to him a second time in his farewell season?

Pizarro is still without a goal

Pizarro made 14 short appearances in this difficult year for Werder. He stood on the court for 199 minutes. The impulses that he was able to give the team last season have fizzled out. The bleached attacker cannot show any participation in the goal. Things looked different last year: 26 games, five goals, two assists. Two goals in the cup. Super Joker Pizarro was a factor in the Werder game. The stadium woke up again when it was ready for a substitution, pulling the other players along.

Now that Bremen could use the Pizarro moments more than ever, it causes unrest next to instead of on the court.
