Clamorous defeat at the World Cup, Tite resigns as coach of Brazil

Doha: Tite has resigned as Brazil coach after a sensational defeat by Croatia in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. He resigns after coaching the Brazilian team for six years since 2016. Brazil won the Copa America under Tite in 2019. In the 2020 Copa, Tite’s Brazil also lost to arch-rivals Argentina in the final.

Tite responded to the decision to step down by saying he had already announced he would step down after the World Cup in Qatar

Brazil also lost to Belgium in the quarterfinals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. This time, Brazil lost to Croatia after topping the list of likely cup winners. Brazil took the lead in extra time, then conceded the equalizing goal and lost on penalties.
