Salvador City Hall will send a bill to the City Council to subsidize bus fares in Salvador. With the sector in crisis, businesspeople claim that they do not have the money to pay road workers’ 13th salary.

“The city hall is looking at a way to pay the subsidy. Today I’m going to forward a bill to be able to pay the subsidy, pay the fare to help the system stay on its feet, so the buses can run and businesspeople can honor their commitments. now at the end of the year”, said Mayor Bruno Reis, this Monday (6).

According to the mayor, the value is estimated at R$190 million between the end of this year and the beginning of 2024. He met with businesspeople in the sector last week to discuss the crisis in public transport. “I met on Friday with transport businesspeople and they don’t have money to pay the 13th,” he said.

Reis complained about the demonstrations by bus workers that affect savings. “It’s a lack of respect for the population. The population is not to blame for a labor relationship. Closing the garages will make the companies’ crisis even worse, and then yes, perhaps they will have a fair reason to claim,” he said.
