“Citi Zēni” returns to Latvia with a new single and another leading vocalist

In response to rapidly rising prices, the group “Citi Boys” has released a wise single about the value of money – “Redundant”. Dagnis Roziņš, the group’s saxophonist, has taken on the role of soloist in this single.

The song “Lieka štuka” was created in the creative process of the group almost two years ago, but “Citi Zēni” has been waiting for the right moment for the release of the single. “In response to rising fuel prices, record gas costs and headline inflation, it seems that a more accurate moment for a song about value for money is unthinkable. “Redundant” as a concept is something close to unattainable, but it is worth striving for and dreaming about. I’ve never met a person who says he has too much money. Everyone has a desire, which additional funds would help to bring closer to reality, ”says Jānis Pētersons, a soloist of“ Other Boys ”, about the group’s latest performance.

Dagnis Roziņš, the band’s saxophonist, has taken on the role of soloist in this single, who says the following about the sound of the song: The overall structure of the song is also commented on

The band’s bassist and producer Roberts Memmēns: “When creating the arrangement of the song, we were looking for solutions to surprise the listeners. Until now, “Other Boys” had never collaborated with a choir, but it seems that this song fits the sense of togetherness that singing together gives. This time the choir couldn’t afford it, so I sang all the men’s parties myself. In total, there were 190 voices that can be heard at the end of the song at the same time. ”

Along with the latest single, the band has also presented a rather funny video, which was created in cooperation with the creative association “Creators 22”. The director of the clip, Mārtiņš Goldbergs, comments on the idea and realization of the visualization: Although the lyrics of the song are full of irony and satire, in the video we tried to take artistic seriousness in order to create the same visual contradiction as in the title of the song: “redundant” is an oxymoron, and so we tried to portray it. “
