Cinemas in Huelva close due to the current situation derived from the coronavirus

Cinemas in Huelva and province are temporarily closed in the current situation derived from Covid-19. Given the lack of film premieres and the limitation of hours included in the measures approved by the Andalusian Government, the managers of these establishments have had no other option than to paralyze the activity.

In the case of Cines Aqualon, it remains closed since Monday. Its manager, Alejandro Cintado, commented that he considered opening only on weekends but the time restrictions and the lack of premieres, to which the new wave of the coronavirus is added, has led him to “close for a while” and open “when the circumstances improve to give a good service ”.

He stressed that “with the absence of premieres, the limitations of schedules and the perimeter closures of municipalities, the cinema is very diminished ”. He indicated that they offered a pass, which “only made sense on weekends, since during the week it was a lost pass”, because, from Monday to Friday, the population has to comply with work and school hours and there is little time for leisure.

Cintado stressed that with all these circumstances “there is no billing capacity.” He stressed that in recent weeks public influx had been reduced by 90%. He explained that normally December “is the best movie month of the year and it has been the worst month after removing those that were closed.”

After being closed for the lockdown, Cines Aqualon theaters, a total of nine, reopened at the end of June. “The summer months were regular, in November we closed for fifteen days and then there were time limitations, we had a little margin in December but there are many months of wear and tear and we don’t know when this is going to end.”

Currently, shops, hotels and cinemas must close at 18:00, which does not allow them to offer a wide service to users of their rooms. To this is added that, as of today, the capital of Huelva is closed on the perimeter because it exceeds the rate of 500 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, a situation suffered by twenty-eight municipalities in the province. For all this, Cines Aqualon will remain temporarily inactive, time that will be used to continue improving the installation and return with all the service at full capacity.

The manager of Artesiete Cinemas, Juan Chiclana, stated that they have not yet decided what measures to take. For the moment hold sessions at Artesiete Holea three days a week, specifically on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Cinevip Lepe It has been closed since last Thursday. Its manager, José Antonio Camacho, pointed out that this situation “there is no one to support it.” The influx of the public has been reduced “by 80%”. He pointed out that apart from the time restrictions there are no movie premieres “and people who like movies don’t come. There are no premieres and time constraints have ended up finishing off the situation ”.

The establishment will remain closed “until things improveFor three or four months, sure, we are thinking of the end of April or May, there is nothing clear about it and there are no premieres, it is the whiting that bites its tail ”.

For its part, Cineapolis reported this Monday, through a statement, the closure of Cineapolis Punta Umbría, and the La Dehesa Islantilla cinema, through its website, which, “due to the evolution of the pandemic and the measures taken by the competent authorities”, will remain closed “until further notice”.
