Member of Patwal Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya Iptu Dwi Setiawan died after being hit by a truck on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road. The truck driver is believed to have been on the phone when he hit the victim.
The incident occurred on Thursday (10/28/2021), at around 11.30 WIB. At that time, the victim was carrying out his duties control Polda Metro Jaya entourage to Bekasi.
“The victim is currently on duty towards Bekasi, escorting a group of the Polda supervision team that will carry out activities in Bekasi,” said Head of Sub-Directorate of Gakkum Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Argo Wiyono when contacted, Thursday (28/10).
Arriving at the location, the truck driver traveling in the same direction suddenly changed lanes from lane 3 to lane 4. Instantly, the truck grazed the victim and killed him on the spot.
“He died on the spot. So when he was about to pull the truck from the third lane it suddenly moved to lane four, it should have meant asking to go left, not right,” explained Argo.
The victim who was grazed then fell and hit the road divider. Unfortunately for the victim, after falling, the victim then got under the truck and was run over and died at the location.
“So because concentration was broken, suddenly the truck swerved to the right and the member fell on the road divider in the middle. When the motorbike got into the truck it fell and went under it. The victim suffered head injuries,” he added.
Truck Driver Arrested
Argo said that currently the truck driver with the initials CS has been questioned at the Gakkum Building, Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya. Previously, this CS perpetrator had fled.
In addition to the driver with the initials CS, the assistant has been questioned. From the Kernet check, it was known that the CS driver was calling his wife when the accident took place.
“So, from the initial investment, it was said that he was calling his wife,” said Argo.
