Christian Brecht’s wall painting has entered the finalists of the annual “Kilograms of Culture 2021” award – Culture – Apollo.lv – Entertainment

Jansone noted that on October 1, the autumn voting of the Latvian Public Media Annual Award in Culture “Kilograms of Culture 2021” ended. Viewers and listeners had to evaluate the works in eight categories, one work in each of them qualified for the final – the one that received the most public support. Works created from May to August 31 of this year have been put to the autumn vote.

The concert “If You Weren’t …” by Elīna Garanča and Raimonds Pauls, which took place on July 24 at the Latvian National Theater together with “Sinfonietta Rīga”, conductor Normunds Šnē and instrumental group led by Raimonds Macata, has been nominated for the finals in the “Music” category.

The finalist of “Kino” is the feature film “Tizlenes”, directed by Marta Elīna Martinsone, and the film was made with the help of the studio “Ego Media”. In the category “Theater”, the finalist was Viesturs Kairiss’ performance “Smile” performed at the Daile Theater.

Kirill Panteleyev’s solo exhibition “5 Rooms” from the Art Gallery “Noass” entered the finals in the category “Visual Art”. “Literature” has selected Kristīne Želves’ novel “Grosvaldi” from the publishing house “Neptuns” as the finalist, while in the category “Heritage” Jurmala City Council, SIA “Livland Group”, general partnership “Rere BMV”, “SIA” Isliena V “and SIA” Jurevics and Partners “restored Kemeri Historical Park.

“Dedication to Jamma Skulme”, ​​which was supported by the foundation “Art Needs Space”, but in the category “Event”, an evening of festive songs dedicated to the centenary of Imants and Gido Kokars “Brāli Brāļi” was chosen as the finalist. The concert took place on the Grand Stage of Mežaparks, and its director was Juris Jonelis, and the artistic director was Roman Vanags.

The last of the “Kilograms of Culture 2021” – the winter vote – will take place in January 2022, when it will be possible to vote for cultural events that have been submitted to the public for evaluation from September to December 2021. After that, the works that have received the most support from viewers and listeners in the spring, autumn and winter votes will compete in the final vote.

Everyone is still invited to submit their favorite place to enjoy culture in the category “My place of culture”.

The works submitted for the autumn vote have been recognized by the Latvian Radio and LTV jury as the most original and high-quality Latvian cultural events, which took place from May 2021 to August 31, and are worthy of fighting for the opportunity to win the Kilogram Culture Award.
