Choosing the Right Connection Capacity: A Guide for Household Electrical Needs

According to representatives of the “Distribution Network”, the greatest potential for evaluating the compliance of the connection capacity with the actual needs is approximately 100,000 household connections with a capacity of 3F 25A or more.

When evaluating the suitability of the existing connection for the needs of the household, it is recommended to first pay attention to the number of amperes – whether it corresponds to the electricity usage habits. Among them, the data of the “Distribution Network” show that households basically act in this way, because when reducing the load, customers in most cases choose to leave the number of phases unchanged, but slightly reduce the number of amperes.

You can calculate which connection parameters will be most suitable with the load calculation calculator available on the “Sadales netas” website, which contains the most common electrical appliances in households and their average power. On the other hand, after a more detailed consultation, you can contact the company’s electrical specialists.

“Distribution networks” representatives explain that apartment owners mostly use 1F and 16A or 20A connections. Such connections are suitable for providing all daily needs: lighting the rooms, operating the washing machine, refrigerator, TV, iron, electric kettle and other devices. On the other hand, 3F connections are mostly installed in new project apartment buildings and private houses, where electrical devices with higher power are often used, such as heat pumps, water pumps, air conditioners and other devices.

Also, the company states that in July and August, about 15,000 customers have chosen the “Special” tariff plan, which is suitable for connections with extremely low electricity consumption in a certain period.

From July 1, “Sadales Nettu” customers have access to two distribution tariff plans – “Basic” and “Special”. “Basic” tariffs are suitable for residents with regular, active daily electricity consumption, while “Special” tariffs are suitable for properties in which electricity consumption is very low or irregular, for example, properties that are put up for sale and are not inhabited on a daily basis, summer houses in the winter months or companies with a seasonal operation in the off-season, as they have a significantly smaller part of the fixed tariff fee, but a larger part of the variable part for the transmitted kilowatt-hours.
