CHMI extends warning: The Czechia is facing extreme heat and strong storms

Temperatures climb to 27 to 31 degrees during Monday, and up to 33 degrees in the northwestern half of Bohemia. This follows from the forecast of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI).

Especially in Čecháh there will be showers and in some places also strong storms. CHMI warns of them in an extended warning.

From Monday to Tuesday midnight applies to Prague, Central Bohemian Region (Benešov, Beroun, Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav, Čáslav, Černošice, Český Brod, Kladno, Kolín, Kralupy nad Vltavou, Kutná Hora, Lysá nad Labem, Mělník, Mladá Boleslav, Mnichovo Hradiště, Neratovice, Nymburk, Poděbrady, Rakovník, Říčany, Slaný), Karlovy Vary Region, Ústí nad Labem Region, Liberec Region, Hradec Králové Region, Pardubice Region, Olomouc Region (Jeseník, Mohelnice, Šumperk, Zábřeh) and Moravian – Silesian Region (Bruntál, Krnov, Rýmařov).

The storm warning applies to the following districts:

“Locally, torrential rain is expected with a unique distribution of small streams, flooding of underpasses, underpasses, cellars, etc. Wind gusts can break tree branches. Hail and lightning can also be a danger,” meteorologists said.

The Czechia will also be hit by extreme heat. The CHMI warning in front of them has been valid since Sunday noon for Prague, the Pilsen Region and some districts of the Central Bohemian Region (Beroun, Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav, Černošice, Hořovice, Kladno, Mladá Boleslav, Rakovník). From Monday for the Central Bohemian districts Kralupy nad Vltavou, Mělník, Neratovice and Slaný, the Ústí nad Labem Region (Bílina, Děčín, Chomutov, Kadaň, Litoměřice, Litvínov, Louny, Lovosice, Most, Podbořany, Roudnice nad Labem, Teplice, Ústí nad Labem, Žatec) and the Liberec Region Linden).

Meteorologists warn especially against the danger of overheating and dehydration. People should reduce physical activity at noon and in the afternoon. “Do not leave children or even animals in direct sunlight, especially in parked cars,” they stressed.
