45 meters. Chloe Wiegand († 1) fell so far on July 7, 2019. Her grandfather Salvatore Anello dropped her from the window of the cruise ship Freedom of the Seas, which had moored in a port in Puerto Rico. The girl hit the dock on the concrete floor (VIEW reported). It didn’t stand a chance. Was dead immediately. The first few days were mourning. After that, the blame began.

Anello was arrested and charged with negligent homicide. He has since claimed that he didn’t know that the window was open. “I thought there was a window,” he said in interviews. The family instead charged the shipping company Royal Caribbean Cruises. The accusation: negligence. Because the window on the 11th floor in the play area was open to children.

Now the shipping company is turning the tables. She publishes a surveillance video that shows Anello leaning out the window for several seconds. Before he picks up his granddaughter and keeps her out. The pictures, which, among other things, the TV station “CBS” publishes, raise doubts about Anello’s previous statements. Accordingly, the shipping company is confident that the process will work out in its favor.

The Chloe family doesn’t want to give up so easily. A lawyer is quoted as saying, “It is clear that Royal Caribbean’s tactic is to blame Chloe’s grandfather rather than accept that Royal Caribbean has not introduced industry standards for infant safety aboard its ships.” (VOF)
