Chinese Thermoacoustic Stirling Generator: The Quiet Revolution

The Middle Kingdom is rapidly expanding its naval fleet to face the United States in the waters of the Pacific Ocean. The army launches aircraft carriers and submarines. However, the revolution is yet to come. Polish universities have announced the construction of a new generation of propulsion that will power the fleet without the need to use nuclear reactors.

This is a groundbreaking thermoacoustic Stirling generator. It is intended not only to make Chinese submarines patrol the Pacific waters extremely quietly and unnoticed, but also such devices can be used to power the first colonies on the Moon or Mars.

The Chinese prototype of the Stirling thermoacoustic generator during testing was said to be able to provide as much as 102 kilowatts of power from a heat source at a temperature of 530 degrees Celsius. Such an engine uses acoustic waves to generate or transport heat. This is the first drive of this type with a power of over 100 kilowatts. Chinese scientists talk about a breakthrough.

The Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry (TIPC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is responsible for the design and construction of the first prototype. Tests confirmed that the approximately 2-meter-high generator can compete with even the most efficient steam turbines. Most importantly, it can be powered by a wide variety of heat sources, including solar energy, waste heat and biomass.

The Chinese army intends to use it on board its submarines. Since the thermoacoustic engine has a low sound signature (like nuclear propulsion), it will be ideal for this type of units, which will become undetectable to the US fleet.

A few months ago, the American intelligence agency (CIA) reported that Beijing was preparing to attack Taiwan. For this reason, Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines are creating their alliance, thanks to which they will be able to protect each other with a lot of help from the USA. For several years, China has been forcibly taking over islands in the South China Sea and militarizing them. There are also provocations there almost every day, as China claims the rights to an increasing part of the water areas where, for example, Filipino fishermen operate.
