Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang to Test Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Chinese Prime Minister (PM) Li Qiang will try the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) on Wednesday (6/9/2023).

This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

“This is also clear evidence of modern, high-quality cooperation between the two countries,” Luhut said in a press release, Jakarta.

Luhut met with Li Qiang at the Indonesia-China Business Community Reception agenda which took place at Shangri La, Jakarta, Tuesday (5/9/2023).

At the event, he said Li Qiang’s presence in Indonesia would not only encourage Chinese investment in Indonesia, but also encourage domestic investors to invest in China.

“And I am sure that the arrival of Prime Minister Li Qiang to Indonesia will attract even more economic, trade and investment cooperation,” he was quoted as saying in a written statement.

Previously, Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Rosan Roeslani said that before the high-speed train was inaugurated on October 1, 2023, there would be a trial run with the Chinese Prime Minister.

“Tomorrow the plan is from the Prime Minister of China and also together with the Coordinating Minister (Luhut) who will carry out testing of the fast train on September 6,” he said in the ASEAN-Indo Pacific Forum (AIPF) press at the JCC, Jakarta, Tuesday ( 5/9/2023).

Rosan said that the time for the trial of the fast train that Luhut and Li Qiang will ride is still tentative, but it is likely to be carried out in the afternoon.

“The time is more or less in the afternoon, tentative. The time will be determined in more depth,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Risal Wasal revealed that the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train would be inaugurated on October 1, 2023 by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
