The EU on Monday imposed sanctions on four Chinese officials and one organization in connection with Beijing’s crackdown on the Uighur minority.

These are the first sanctions the EU has imposed on Beijing since the arms embargo in 1989 following the crackdown on protests in Tiananmen Square.
